Stuka Squadron Tales of the Ost review – The Metal Saloon

w

Genre: Heavy Metal Label: Metalbox Recordings Release date: 13th February 2012 Stuka Squadron’s latest album ‘Tales of the Ost’ I should warn, is not for the faint hearted.  This ‘lucky numbered’ 13 tracked album will give you something to chew on and hard to spit out as is will lure you into its depths with its catchy rhythms, enticing guitar solos and  graphical concepts. Take Iced Earth, Black Sabbath, Alestorm, and maybe one other I cannot put my finger on and mix it all up in a cement mixer- this will be your final product. Metal Gods TV reviews ‘Tales of the Ost’

Stuka2_web

Described by some as  “The sound of British heavy metal with the shape of a vampire squadron”, STUKA SQUADRON are 5 guys in very long leather coats, looking like they’ve just walked off the set of a Vampire Movie, wearing German Military headgear, and you’d think, with a name like STUKA SQUADRON, that they are a German Band – I certainly did, until I heard the vocals of James Duke Fang-Begley, and I hear Iron Maiden combined with a Judas Priest influence, and I find that the Band is from England…. I was greatly (and happily may I add) surprised by this, and … Continue reading

Stuka Squadron album review – Vampster.com (Germany)

stukalarry1

Continue reading

Metal To Infinity – 92/100 review of Inmoria’s album

A Farewell To Nothing The Diary Part I

I suppose Tad Morose is known by the majority of our readers at Metal To Infinity webzine. This band delivered us one after another great album but it has been quiet for a while around this Swedish band. Their last effort must be “Modus Vivendi”, from 2003. It was a great album but nothing has been heard about them ever since. Their Powerful Metal with a melodic edge has always pleased me and as far as I know they’re still active. What are they waiting for? The reason I am mentioning Tad Morose is because their original drummer, Dan … Continue reading

Stuka Squadron album review – Metal To Infinity (Belgium)

RD pic

Metal To Infinity An intro with a little part of a speech of Winston Churchill and diving war planes… Where do I know this from? “Aces High”? Of course… Stuka Squadron seems to be nickname for a German warplane and it is the name of a band. On their website the band makes clear they have nothing to do with idolizing the German army but at the same time they wrote some kind of concept CD about World War II, at the east front…  Looking at the band’s pictures these guys really are confusing me, find it out yourself. Anyway, “Tales … Continue reading

Stuka Squadron album review – Sea of Tranquility

stukajames1

With tongues firmly in cheeks Stuka Squadron (who take their moniker from the fighter pilots of the blitzkreig campaign) are based around the gimmick of the five band members being blood drinking vampires from the time of World War II. With individual names including Gravedigger Cox and Sir Graveghoul Terrorsound on guitars and vocalist James Duke Fang-Begley they are very much about entertainment with a capital E. The website expands further on the back story by explaining how the squadron was formed in 1930′s Germany and the band keep in character for their promotional campaign. All too often with gimmicks … Continue reading
